Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google

This is my first blog and I decide to write about my experiences with Google Adwords. For those of you who are not familiar with Adwords, it is simply a pay-per-click advertising scheme run by Google. When you do a search on Google, these are the ads that appear in colored boxes on the right hand side of the screen. You can find ads for practically anything you can conceive of… giant squids, spark plugs, window furnishings, etc. Since these ads are in neat colored boxes, they are quite eye-catching and entices the user to click on them. As far as I know, Overture started this whole pay-per-click search thing and it’s now becoming so popular among Internet marketers and people who are into making money through affiliate programs. I only discovered Adwords about 3 weeks ago and have been experimenting with it since. Ads are easy to set up once you sign up for an account with Google. Another plus, the ads go live within minutes and you can track the results close to real-time (according to Google, there may be a 3-hour delay). In contrast, with Overture you have to get your ads approved which can take a few days.

The main point of this effort will be to see if I can make some money with Google Adwords after reading a couple of ebooks about it and knowing of a few people who made thousands a month using Adwords. It’s not as easy as the gurus would like to have you think. It takes time, effort, patience and lots and lots of testing. Plus, you need some startup cash. Some people I talked to have recommended $300-500 to start with. So far I’ve spent about $300. Made a few sales but still not breaking even. There’s more tweaking to do.
