Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google

I emailed the affiliate program manager of the campaign I described yesterday. It turns out that I had already made some sales but they haven’t been posted on the stats page yet. So the moral of the story is that you shouldn’t hesitate to get in touch with the affiliate program manager, especially for smaller affiliate programs where personal contact is very important. Given the commission on the sales, I am actually already making a profit on this campaign which I had paused. So, I will resume the campaign and keep it going longer to generate more stats.

For this campaign, I have 5 ad groups and I’m using very few highly targeted keywords. The ad group that has the most keywords has 35. The other 4 ad groups have less than 10 keywords each. I’ll be adding more ad groups this week to see if sales improve.

Some people like to use hundreds or thousands of keywords, but it really depends on the specific market/product that you are advertising. In certain cases, you’ll have no choice but to use more general keywords. When you are marketing a certain product group, you may be able to set up ad groups with keywords targeting the specific model of the product. For example, instead of “search engine optimization”, you can choose “Google search engine optimization” or “Yahoo search engine optimization”. The more specific your keywords, the higher your CTR is going to be (usually!). And don’t forget phrase matching with ” “, and exact matching with [ ].
