Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google
I was was going through my Adwords campaigns today and clicked on the “Edit Campaign Settings” link on the top level campaign page when you click on a particular ad campaign. Under item 4, “How often to show my ads,” I clicked on the “more info” link and finally found out what it means to have this item checked off. By the way, it is checked off by default whenever you set up a new campaign.
I’ve always left it checked. But now I’ve realized that I should uncheck it if I want to do some split testing. That means if I have two ad groups in the campaign, Adwords will show each of the ads 50% of the time. If you check this box, what will happen is that at first each ad will show up 50% of the time but as one of them gets a few more clicks than the other, Adwords will automatically show the one with the higher number of clicks more often. Google doesn’t tell you how many clicks the ad has to get before it does the automatic optimization, so it’s better to do the split testing yourself.
