Clickbank was down yesterday

I had to pause all my Adwords campaigns that were related to Clickbank products yesterday. Clickbank was down for most of the day, in case you didn’t notice. Now if you had left your campaigns running, you’ll still be paying for the clicks even though no one would be able to buy anything through the order links. That’s a big problem if you spend a considerable amount on advertising with Adwords.

The lesson to be learned here is to DIVERSIFY. A lot of people like to promote Clickbank products because of the high commissions. However, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Find other good affiliate programs and add those into your mix. Check out affiliate networks such as Commission Junction and LinkShare. There are other independent affiliate programs out there. Do a search on your favorite search engines - use “product” + “affiliate program” in your search. Make a note on how often they send out checks to affiliates. I’ve seen some programs where checks are sent only quarterly. That means you’ll have to pay for advertising for 3 months before you’re going to see any checks coming in. Depending on your cash flow situation, you may want to avoid these situations.
