Maybe Google should just change their new keyword classification system to read “in trial” or “in jail”. I, for one, prefer the old system of having keywords labeled as “strong”, “moderate”, “at risk” or “disabled”. According to their description of the new system, if a keyword is “on hold”, it could revert back to being “in trial” only “when one or more trial keywords move to another state.”

I’m not sure exactly how many “in trial” keywords you’re allowed to have. I’ve checked my various campaigns and some of them have 6 keywords “in trial” while others have 3. Then there are some campaigns without any “in trial” keywords but a whole bunch of “on hold” ones. Rather than these fairly nebulous states, I wish Google will just go right ahead and tell us that a keyword is “disabled” rather than putting it in quarantine.

There is a technique though to take your “in trial” and “on hold” keywords back in service again. I’m not ready to reveal it yet - maybe in a report or ebook someday. How’s that for a teaser?
