Google’s revenue and profits soar again. Earnings nearly doubled from the year-ago period to reach US$1.25 billion, far exceeding even the most optimistic projections. Google’s reported net income was $369 million or $1.29 per share for the quarter, compared to $64 million or $0.24 per share in Q1 of 2004.
How much does Google pay other websites that syndicate ads? “Google-owned sites generated 52 percent of total revenues, while partner sites, through AdSense advertising programs, contributed 47 percent of the total,” according to this news article.
Search engine advertising, i.e. Adwords and contextual advertising, i.e. Adsense, will continue to grow. Anyone who is marketing online should master both aspects of being an advertiser as well as a publisher of ads.
