Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google
I just got an email with this headline… “Here’s Proof - Adsense Isn’t Dead” OK, so far so good. When I opened it, it seems to be a special report on “How one man went from 41 cents a day to $1,640.41 a day in Adsense… in just 43 days.” You can supposedly get the report free if you sign up for the Carlton Internet Strategies teleconference for just one penny.
Cool. At least that’s what I thought until I clicked on the ad and got to the actual website, clicked on the “Reserve your spot for 1 penny” link and realized that you’ve got to pay $297. I won’t name any names but if you’ve got this email too, you’ll know who the culprits are.
So, is that deceptive or what? Why waste my precious time making me click through all these links? I’d rather you just come out straight and tell me EXACTLY what you are offering and for how much.
What do you think?
On another note, the email itself is clever. Instead of text or html, the entire content of the email is one large hyperlinked graphic poster. This strategy will definitely increase the clickthrough rate for the ad.

1Hock,
I thought that was pretty bad as well. OK, I think there was some content (audio stuff maybe) that you got just for registering, but to be honest I deleted those mails as soon as I realised there were from that site.
That was underhand and has left a bad taste in my mouth when I think of the promoter…

2Andrew,
Since then I’ve gotten a few more emails from other marketers promoting the same deal which I promptly deleted. In the realm of internet marketing, marketers should give more thought to helping others who are trying to make it online rather than just lining their pockets with cash. I think if you do the former, the latter will follow.
