I just read this post on SearchEngineJournal regarding the issue of changing the destination URL in your Google AdWords campaign. Doing that will wipe out your campaign history and thus any ranking you’ve earned over the course of months or years can vanish just like that.
There are some instances when you need to change your destination URL. For example, you might have switched to a different domain name. A better alternative to changing your existing destination URL is to create a new campaign and slowly bring it up to speed.
I also wonder if the domain name has something to do with the new AdWords “quality score”. For example, would an ad for “basket weaving” with a destination URL like “www. basketweaving.com” have a higher quality score than “www.crafts.com”?
