There is a new keyword tool in your AdWords account, in case you haven’t noticed. Once you’re logged in, click on the ad group and you should see a link for ‘Keyword Tool’ right above the table.

The tool lets you generate variations of keywords from your best performing keywords. You also have the option of manually typing in keywords. This seems to replace the old ’suggestion’ tool that was incorporated into the tool for estimating traffic when you add new keywords to your ad group.

The other option is to look at site-related keywords. This one’s interesting. You can sort by keywords, keyword popularity and cost and position estimates. When you choose keyword popularity as I have done, you get a list of suggested keywords along with the estimated competition and search volume. This list of keywords is generated from words that appear on the URL which you supply. In this example, I’m using webmd.com.

You can also download all the keywords in .csv format. This is very useful is you’re going to do further sorting and analysis using your own predefined parameters. I think this is a great tool and I’m going to spend some time tonight playing with it.
