According to this article in iMediaConnection citing reports by eMarketer. It’s interesting to note that the projections still place Google ahead in market share even though MSN spent more on R&D in 2005. However, looking at the increase in R&D spending from 2005 to 2006, it looks like Google is pulling out all the stops.
The increasing popularity of search engine marketing is good news for advertisers. More competition among the search engines also mean better pricing and continual improvement in service. On the flip side, web publishers who are now displaying Google AdSense ads can expect to have more choice in terms of partners and ad inventory as the search engine marketing industry continues to grow.

1Hmm.. I’m wondering how long it will last.. Google is going over the top know, buying everything they can..
