Happy 2007, everyone! I hope that you had a restful holiday season. Got any New Year’s resolutions? Now that the new year has started, it’s time for me to sit down and chart out the direction this blog is taking for the next 12 months. Looking at the past 12 months, I made 171 posts - more in the first half of the year than the second. I have spent the last 6 months more on building up my other projects and so this site has been left alone for a while. Now that the new year is here, it’s time for this blog to get a bit more TLC.

A bunch of SEO’s and internet marketing bloggers have posted their web stats on their blogs. My numbers pale in comparison to theirs but you have to take into consideration that I’m not a full-time blogger. Some notable folks who have posted their blog stats are Matt Cutts (1.67 million visits) and Jeremy Schoemaker (0.5 million visits).

What I found to be interesting from from Shoemoney was that more users were using FireFox (58.71%) compared to Internet Explorer (33.84%). Looking at your referrers and search keywords will tell you where your traffic was coming from. With Google Analytics, you can also get geographical data of which countries your traffic is originating from based on IP addresses. With most English websites, the majority of the traffic will be from US, UK, Canada, and Australia. This blog actually gets a lot of visitors also from South East Asia, in particular Singapore and Malaysia. Maybe it’s because of my name. Hock is a very common name in those parts of the world.

Surprisingly, a lot of my traffic was coming from a testimonial I gave for XSitePro. My testimonial is listed along with a link to this site. So a lot of people who read my testimonial and are curious about my website will click through to check it out. Hopefully, some of these people become subscribers to my newsletter or regular readers of this blog.

I have not bothered to advertise this site using any PPC. I’m not planning to do that in the near term. Going forward, one thing I would like to see is to build more of a community around the blog. I don’t get many comments (except spammy ones selling Carisoprodol or some other pharmaceutical product) so either no one is interested in what I’m saying or I’m attracting the wrong crowd. But I think part of the reason is that I haven’t been consistent in posting so that’s going to be one of my resolutions for the new year.

There is a lot of interest in the posts related to Google arbitrage or traffic arbitrage or AdWords/AdSense arbitrage. This year I’m going to focus more posts on my thoughts about how things are shaping up in the arbitrage scene and also some results of experiments with arbitrage. Stay tuned… it’s going to be a great year!
