What is Private Label Rights?
Simply put private label rights to articles allow you to do anything you want with the content except reselling it as is. That is the general terms of many private label content providers but you’ll want to check the agreement for particular programs. For those of us who own a network of verticals, there is a huge need to have fresh, updated content on our sites or blogs. Therefore, there are a few viable options to consider.
1. Write the content yourself. This is the most time consuming but if you don’t have the capital, then you’ll have to put up the sweat equity.
2. Hire content writers. They are sometimes referred to as ghostwriters who can research the topic and write the articles for you. If you go with this route, expect to pay anywhere from $5-$15 for a 500 word article. A word of caution - the cheapest services aren’t always the best. Neither is the most expensive an indication of the quality of the articles. My tip is to hire someone for a smaller job first and see if the quality is up to par with your expectations. Also consider if the writers can meet the deadlines that they promise for delivering the articles.
3. Now the final option is to join a private label rights (PLR) membership site which lowers the cost of getting the articles written since you are using group purchasing power. The only drawback to this option is that since the articles are available to a group of people, you can’t use the content as is or you’ll run the risk of being penalized by the search engines for duplicate content.
Brief Reviews of Private Label Rights Membership Sites
I have been a member of a number of PLR membership sites in the past year and I’m still a member of quite a few of them. Here’s the list of memberships I’ve tested:
1. PLR Pro - This is the cadillac of PLR membership sites. You get 440 articles each month and these are grouped into several niches. Each set of articles are limited to 200 people. Besides the high quality of the content, the tools, training and forum are invaluable. Run by Marc Lindsay and Daniel Turner, these guys really know what they are doing. Members can sign up for the 90 Day Challenge where they are given step by step instructions starting from the ground up to build a network of niche content sites. There are prizes offered for this contest including a grand prize worth $10,000.
2. Article Underground - Offered by Mike Liebner, you get 400 articles per month on various topics. The articles are not as tightly themed as the ones from PLR Pro so it may be more appropriate if you already have a network of sites where you can feed these content to. The unique proposition of this membership site is the number of high PR and frequently spidered blogs that members can post to in order to get their own sites indexed faster by the search engines. At last count, there are 22 of these available. Each set of articles are limited to 300 members.
3. Nicheology - Started by Jimmy D. Brown and Ryan Deiss, Nicheology is the grand daddy of all the private label content membership sites. Currently closed, the number of members are limited to 1500. Members get two complete private label ebooks per month on various topics along with custom sales letters and a brief market survey of the niche.
4. InfoGoRound - This site was started by Brian Winters. The unique twist to this membership is that you can get it for free if you contribute content each month. Otherwise, if you don’t feel like writing but just using other people’s submitted articles, you’ll just pay a small membership fee. The quality of the articles vary as expected since it is member contributed but you’ll also get bonus article packs provided by the site owner each month.
5. Niche Health Articles - This membership site is focused solely on providing PLR articles for health-related topics. The site is run by Kim Standerline who is also a registered nurse. If you prefer complete ebooks rather than articles, Kim also offers Niche Health Products.
I will continue to review different PLR sites in my future posts. If you have any questions, please post a comment here.
