jan-effect.jpgI’ve heard some marketers claim that there is a January effect where they get their best results in January. Going through my AdWords data, I’m seeing some of this myself. Here’s a snapshot of the clicks (no real numbers of course, per AdWords TOS) in my AdWords account. You’ll see the increase in the number of clicks starting in January.

The theory is that many people are searching online after the holidays, trying to spend their gift cards and Christmas money. Are you seeing the January effect?

There is also a spike in November and you may wonder what that may be due to. Well, that is the PS3 and Nintendo Wii effect. I was doing a test on sending traffic to a site I own that is related to the gaming consoles. Needless to say, since a ton of people were searching for information on those products online, I was getting a boatload of traffic.
