In another effort to enroach into Microsoft’s territory, Google announced on their blog today that they are buying Zenter which is a company developing software for online presentations. Watch out, Powerpoint… here comes more competition. First there’s Open Office from Sun and now Google Docs will be a more comprehensive office productivity suite with this latest acquisition. 

But what is Google really up to? They also bought FeedBurner which is the leading RSS feed management tool. FeedBurner also has a feature to display ads integrated into RSS feeds. It might not be a stretch to imagine that the strategy here is to dominate the online advertising market. It looks like anywhere they can display ads, Google will do so. Search results, RSS feeds, Gmail… I rest my case. I predict that the day will come when they will also include ads in Google Docs. 

Imagine that - you’re viewing online presentation slides and each one has a little bit of advertising at the corner of the slide.
