Affiliate program managers should try to respond to all emails from affiliates and potential affiliates within 24 hours. Why? Because you just never know. A newbie affiliate today may become a super affiliate the next month. By not paying attention to all affiliates, including potential ones, you’re just shooting yourself in the foot.

Affiliate programs that have a dedicated affiliate program manager that takes real good care of the affiliates will see a good return for their time and effort. With the ever increasing number of affiliate programs, the competition is heating up, and in the end, the winners will be the ones who go the extra mile to help their affiliates succeed.

Here’s a few exchanges I’ve had with an affiliate manager (or maybe the owner) of a ClickBank product:

I am an affiliate of your site and I have been driving quite a few sales the past few months. I would like to take my marketing efforts to a whole new level but I would need to track my conversions from Google. Is there anyway you can add my Google conversion code to the receipt page after someone has purchased? I would like to track conversions at the keyword level.

And here’s the response…

Thank you for your email. We do offer Conversation Tracking, but only to our top 20 affiliates. The reason for this is that the order confirmation page takes substantially longer to load if more that 20 tracking codes are stored on this page. We hope that this doesn’t discourage you from promoting products … , but rather you’ll take up the challenge to become a top 20 affiliate.

Okay, fair enough. I’m not in the top 20. So I have a few more questions…

What’s the average monthly commissions of the top 3 affiliates, if I may ask? That’ll give me a goal to beat.

I was also concerned that they were also using 2CheckOut as a payment option. So I asked,

Do you pay the affiliate when the customer orders the shipped version using 2CheckOut? I’m asking because I’m trying to decide whether to continue promoting your product.

That was a week ago and I still have no answer. To give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe my emails found their way to the junk mail folder. But anyhow, if you’re the affiliate manager and you list that email address on your site, you should be checking ALL of your email folders for questions from affiliates.

So to this program, I say, in the famous words of the Terminator… “hasta la vista, baby!”
