Here’s review #2 from my Birthday giveaway - it’s Jestine Yong’s blog titled “Electronics and Technology News”. This Malaysian blogger runs a niche/personal blog where he mixes in some personal posts with the majority of posts which are related to electronics and electronics repair. He’s got some nice photos of laptops catching on fire too. It’s a great choice of a niche given his experience with electronics and he is also selling an ebook related to the topic.

Suggestions for Improvement

1. Monetizing the blog with AdSense is fine. But in this case, it’s a bit overdone. The site is plastered to the max with AdSense units. I suggest cutting back a bit and you may see the revenues per click actually go up.

2. Use SEO-friendly permalinks.

3. Consistency. Pay attention to the details. For example, some of the headings in the category listings are not capitalized while others are. It’s better to be consistent. It just looks more professional.

4. Try to get linked from authority sites like MakeZine or Instructables. Create a cool DIY (do-it-yourself) electronics project and you’ll find many people will link to you. That will do wonders for your traffic. See how this electronics blog did it.

Final Thoughts

There is also a donation button for buying him a cup of coffee. I find it interesting that the suggested donation is $3.00. I assume that’s in US dollars. Don’t tell me coffee costs that much these days. $3.00 x 3.5 = $10.50 ringgit. Is inflation that bad? Or maybe he’s just going for Starbucks.
