Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google
I think the answer to that question is an unequivocal YES. I have been trying to get my Yahoo Search Marketing (YSM) account upgraded to Gold status so that I can import my AdWords campaigns into YSM. I send them an email telling them that I already spend thousands per month on AdWords and I would like to do the same on YSM but I need to be able to import my campaigns. I’m not going to create each campaign by hand.
I get back an email telling me that I have to spend at least $1500 over 3 months in order to qualify.
Here’s an excerpt of the email:
“We thank you for your interest in switching to a Gold status. Please note to be flipped initially to Gold you must spend $500.00/mo for 3 months or $1500.00 within a 1-3 month time frame. To maintain the Gold status you must spend at least $6,000.00/year.”
Hello? Anybody home?
I just don’t get it. Here I am willing to spend a few thousand per month BUT in order to do that I need to be upgraded so that I can import my campaigns.
They tell me I have to first spend at least $500 per month for 3 months to get upgraded.
No wonder they are getting their behinds kicked by Google.

The New Yahoo Desktop Search
Yahoo has just released the beta version of the desktop search tool.

Yahoo vs. Google
As seen in a news article posted on SeattlePi:

1It appears they do not know how to read email. Maybe you should send them an audio or video version?

2Obviously they can’t read.
Hmm… I wonder if they can hear or see. I might try that. After all, they always list their phone number at the bottom of the emails.
Thanks for stopping by!

3You’re spot on about Yahoo Search Marketing. I’ve been their customer for over 6 years and about spent about 1/4 million $ with them; I get no consideration. When they over run my campaign budget & ask for a refund it takes an act of Congress & they call it a “goodwill credit”. Last time I told them it’s not “goodwill” it’s MY MONEY!

4Hi Gerry,
Thanks for sharing your experience. I haven’t been using them for quite some time now. I’m thinking of giving them another chance though. Maybe they have improved things now that they are on the verge of a takeover by Microsoft.
Speaking of Microsoft, adCenter can have much better conversion rates than AdWords in certain markets that I have tested.
