Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google

At the end of each month, it’s a good idea to look through your website stats and find out how your site is doing. Whether you’re using Awstats that’s installed on most servers or a third party solution, there are many things that you can learn about your visitors and sometimes get a few good laughs too.

For instance, you can look through the keywords or phrases that people are entering into the search engines to find your site. Normally, you’ll see a lot of traffic from natural searches if you’re listed on the first page of Google, Yahoo or MSN especially for often-searched terms. Once you find out what you’re ranking for, you can then optimize your site further.

Here are some ways that people are finding my blog:

blogs as a marketing tool

list of affiliate blogs - this came about as a result of my writing about the list of affiliate marketing conferences that you can attend for a given year. The list seems to be growing with time.

traffic arbitrage - still lots of folks searching for this even though I don’t think the business model works anymore with Google cracking down. You can still read my old posts on traffic arbitrage.

openads for dummies - I wrote a review of OpenAds since I was beginning to test it out on some of my sites.

NicheRevolution - I inducted them into my Hall of Shame.

Here are a few unexpected and/or funny ones:

I’m ranked #4 in Google for the phrase “contact john reese“. Nowhere do the words “john reese” appear on the page which the listing refers to. Just goes to show that no search algorithm is perfect.

why have marketing tools - why not?

myspace spam tools - sorry, we don’t have those here.

pr7 blog - I wish. Yeah, maybe someday. Check back later. :)
