juice.jpgMany bloggers have included nofollow tags to all the links or banner ads that they serve on their sites cowering in fear of Google’s rules. They’ve even included nofollow tags for comments.

But as you know, most of the post pages where you leave comments on have little or no PR compared to the home page. So even if you comment on blogs that have a good home page PR, the page where your comment actually appears may not have any PR at all since it’s relatively new.

So the key is to get your link on the home page.

So what’s an aspiring problogger to do?

Answer: Top Commentators Plugin

There is still a good way to get some PR juice through commenting on blogs.

I’ve found this list of blogs with the Top Commentator plugin installed as compiled by Crystal. You should verify the PR though. Some of the blogs have been demoted since the last Google update.

Since the top commentator plugin will show your link on the home page of the blog, this will maximize the amount of linky goodness that you get.

And how do you gauge the effectiveness of your comments? If you’re using Wordpress, go into your admin panel under the Dashboard tab and you will see the links coming in to your blog. The faster the link shows up, the more love Google has for that blog. I’ve seen links come in within 24 hours for blogs that are spidered daily by Google and for newer blogs it may take a few more days. If the link never shows up, then the blog might have been dumped by Google.
