Want to find out how to improve your site traffic? One way to do that is to check out what other sites in your niche are doing.

Many popular sites with lots of traffic use Sitemeter.

You can do some reverse engineering by using link:sitemeter.com to find sites that link to SiteMeter and use them for their analytics.

The crazy part is that a lot of that info is publicly available and you can get a peek into how much traffic they get, where the traffic comes from, etc. You can even drill deeper into things like average pages viewed per visitor, entry pages, visit duration, etc.

For example, if you check out Daily Kos (a political blog), you’ll see the link to Sitemeter when you scroll down all the way to the bottom.
