How am I doing on my blog goals? Let’s review the month of January.

Building community

The returning visitor rate has increased to 18%, up from the 15% average of all of 2007. It’s inching up but there’s more work to be done.

Benchmarks

I’ve included the average numbers from last year in parentheses.

Average time on site: 1 minute 37 seconds (1 minute 26 seconds.)
Average pageviews/visit: 1.60 (1.55 pages)

Traffic sources:

Direct traffic: 14.88% (18.33%)
Referring sites: 50.58% (48.95%)
Search engines: 34.55% (32.72%)

In order to keep track of these numbers, I’m also trying out a new analytics program.

Get organized

I’m still working on this goal for my entire business so this isn’t really a blogging goal. On the other hand, I did install a new WP theme for this blog and now it looks nice and snazzy. :)

Focus

This one is a tough one for me as I like to have many pots cooking on the stove. However, in the month of January, I have been paying more attention to this blog and will continue to research and write longer, useful articles. If there’s anything you’d like to hear more about, please let me know.

I wrote two site reviews in January. One for Internet Marketing Ninjas and the other for Pepperjam Network. I also reviewed Microsoft’s new PPC keyword tool.
