Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google
The principle behind SEOmeter.com is quite simple. The site offers an online tool that allows you to monitor the search engine spider’s crawling activities on your website. You have to first register your site with them. At this time, it only monitors Google. It would be nice to see other search engines included in future updates.
So what exactly is a crawl cycle?
“A crawl cycle (CC) is the time between two consecutive crawls by search engine robots. A short CC usually means that the website is “trusted” by search engines, and this trust, in turn, is reflected on the website’s search engine ranking. “

SEO Meter also shows the top 20 most crawled sites organized into different categories. The list is by no means exhaustive. For example, under the “Affiliate Programs” category, there is only one site listed. Now we all know that there are hundreds of affiliate program sites out there.
For the latest updates to this tool, check out the accompanying blog.
Another way you can check the crawl rate of your site is to monitor your site logs using Awstats or Webalizer. Keep an eye on how often the search engine spiders visit your site. Using this technique, you can keep track of many more search engine spiders.
If you want to monitor your WP blog, you can install the WP-UserOnline plugin. Then when you go into your WP admin panel, click on the WP-UserOnline tab and you will see if there are any search engine bots or spiders visiting your blog.

1I like very much the wp-user online plugin. It’s pretty addictive. As of SEOMeter, it is the first time I’ve heard about it, but I’m going to give it a try. I’ve noticed that sometimes google indexes a new post of mine in less that 30 minutes, other times it takes about one day (on the same blog).

2Thanks for stopping by, Simonne. If your new posts are indexed quickly by Google, then keep doing whatever you’re doing. :)
