Secret To Get On The First Page Of Google

Time is flying by and it’s already almost the middle of March. So it’s time again to take stock of how this blog is doing. In February, I have tried to update this blog a bit more. I’ve also moved my email subscription management from Email Aces over to Aweber. So if you’re a regular who has subscribed to my list before, please re-subscribe to the new list as I will be retiring the other update list soon.

Building community

The returning visitor rate has decreased from 18% down to slightly over 14%.

Benchmarks

The average numbers from January are in parentheses.

Average time on site: 1 minute 44 seconds (1 minute 37 seconds)
Average pageviews/visit: 1.77 (1.60)

Traffic sources:

Direct traffic: 19.42% (14.88%)
Referring sites: 36.53% (50.58%)
Search engines: 44.06% (34.55%)

I’m most happy with the increase in search traffic. :)

I still love the stats that Clicky has been giving me.

I got a review on Carlocab but I am very disappointed with the results. Even though that site ranks #1 in Google for “make money online”, the review brought a measly 23 visitors for the entire month of February.

On the other hand, Project Wonderful has been a good source of cheap and reasonably good traffic (if you target the right sites to advertise on).

Again, this highlights the importance to tracking your stats closely.

Get organized

This still remains a colossal challenge for me. There are only so many hours in a day and somehow organizing, though important, doesn’t come up to the top of my list. I have to get around to it though.

So that’s it for a quick recap of the progress made in February. Some of this is actually more for myself - to get myself motivated and as a reminder of the things that I need to work on.
